Hi Everyone,
I am the developer of the WRP Identifier app. I created the app almost 5 years ago for the Windows Vista Logo Certification program. I had no idea the application was still being used until I relaunched my website and saw a number of hits coming from the Microsoft Forums. I apologize to those of you who have tried to use the app since I pulled the site down.
I have checked through all my archives and unfortunately no longer have the source code for the app nor a working copy that was deployed on my old site. However, manual verification is actually pretty easy once you know what to look for.
When I was doing the windows vista certification, I worked with a few hundred companies and recall only 2 or 3 that failed this certification test. The app verifier tool will generate hundreds if not thousands of messages. Almost all of them are not applicable to WRP. The biggest concern people had was how to sift through the app verifier logs to find what warnings/errors applied to WRP.
I’ve included some information on how to manually validate if you are hitting an error. This is the method used by Lion Bridge/Veritest for validating a WRP error. You should be able to manually validate the test by following these steps. A few ctrl+f and checks of the event viewer can satisfy this test in under 10 minutes.
1. Examine the logs from AppVerifier. Examine all LayerName=LuaPriv, and Severity=Error. Any Errors or Warnings should be examined. Specifically regarding Windows Resource Protection, examine logs for these Stop Codes: 331B, 331C, 3323, 3322, 3324.
2. Search Event Viewer for any reference to Windows Resource Protection during the install and configuration time frame.
3. At any time during this test plan if any WRP dialogs are produced, or appear in Event logs, Fail this test case.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Bill
